Alert Thingy: The Next Must Had AIR app?

Your rating: None

Twhirl, a twitter client based on the adobe AIR platform was one of the first must have apps for the AIR platform. Now we have the release of what hopes to be the next must have AIR app, alert thingy, and if blogger Michael Arrington is any indication, the app is well on the way to becoming a must have. Needless to say I decided to install the app and try it, seeing as how once I installed twhirl I used twitter more, and I really want to use friendfeed a lot more. So it is downloaded and installed and like any first release it has some things that need to be fixed:

1. Transparency- the app is transparent by default and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable this. Also the font is a little hard on the eyes and the ability to change it is sorely needed. The configuration settings are basically non-exist, allowing for only toggling sounds (which doesn't seem to work for me) and toggling starting the app at start up.
2. Comments- Comments for the posts are displayed fully, which in turn clutters the app when you have a lot of comments. While it is great to be able to see the comments in the app itself, they need to be compressed by default and you the user be able to decide if you want to see them or not.
3. Filters- one of the best things about friendfeed's site is the ability to filter content that you see. This is extremely handy for me seeing as how I have twitter friends who also use friendfeed and I end up with double twitter posts on the two of them.

Needless to say the app is an excellent start and I am definitely looking forward to seeing new updates to the app and improvements on this solid base
