Dundee Honey Brown Lager review

Your rating: None Average: 5 (3 votes)

Tonight I am reviewing a Honey Brown Lager from the Dundee Brewery. I ended up giving this a 3 out of 5. It had a good refreshing front end taste, and a kick ass bottle, but the aftertaste was bitter, and the price was a bit up there as well.

Grain Belt Premium

Your rating: None

Grain Belt A while back at one of my wife's work parties I was drinking a bottle of Grain Belt when the lady sitting next to me said "eeewww how can you drink that!!! my dad used to drink that?!!". I looked at my beer, then looked back at her and said, "are you kidding? This is good stuff! When was the last time you ever tried it?" She looked confused and said "never". It was at that point I realized I was speaking to an idiot, and decided it was time to introduce this perfectly fine beer to all of you.

First brewed in 1947 by the Minneapolis Brewing Company, Grain Belt Premium quickly gained popularity, and earned a place in the hearts of many loyal beer drinkers. Unfortunately many financial problems plagued the brewery and ownership of the Grain Belt label finally landed into the very capable hands of the August Schell Brewery in 2002. This is a perfect example of how a good beer can survive the test of time, and adversity.

What makes this beer so popular?? Well when you first pour it into the glass you'll notice a wonderful clear dark golden colour and a nice head. The aroma has a light malty-ness that is very crisp and clean to the nose. The flavour is the best of all treats this beer has to offer. It has the nicest light bodied sweetness that is perfectly matched with just the right amount of hops. In fact there is very little bitterness to this beer. I believe that this is what American style lagers could be, and is a true taste treat that many never have had the chance to enjoy because they are afraid to drink something that all of their friends think is "unpopular".

So do you're self a favor and search this one out. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Well I'm off to drink another, so until next time, enjoy!!

Samuel Adams Boston Lager

Your rating: None

Back in 1984, Jim Koch told his father that he wanted to rekindle the family's brewing tradition. So his father Charles went up into the attic and sifted through the family's recipes, picked out his favorite, and then gave it to his son. After Jim brewed this beer and tried it for the first time he knew that this was the beer he was going to introduce to the world. This was the birth of one of my favorite beers, Samuel Adams Boston Lager

When you first poor this fine beer you notice a wonderful clear amber color and a wonderfull thick head. The flavor is rich with a wonderful mild malty sweatness provided by the two-row pale and caramel malts, followed by a perfect linguering hoppieness.

Now let me tell you something about the importance of a hops blend. It can quite simply MAKE OR BREAK a beer!!!!! Now with that said, I have to tell you that the hops used in this beer is some of the very finest!!! Genuine German Noble verieties of Hallertau, Mittelfruh, and Tettnanger imported from the finest growers in Europe.

I have to say that this is a must try beer!!! With the malty sweetness, the floral, spicy-citrusy aroma given by the fine hops blend, and a 4.9% abv this beer is perfect for any occasion!!!

I hope you enjoy this beer as much as I do. Oh, and of course as always I left you the link to their website below so check it out. So until next time, enjoy.

Schells Firebrick

Schell's firebrick

The August Schell Brewery began it's long brewing history in 1860. Officialy recognized as the second oldest family owned brewery in the united states, it continues to brew a wide selection of fine beers.

A long and legendary past has inspired this 1999 introduction to the list of fine beers. Named after the bricks that line the old boilers of the brewery, Firebrick has become one of the breweries top sellers. And for good reason!!!!!

A classic Vienna style lager, this beer is made from 4 specialty malts, and is hoped with Vanguard, Chinook, and Hallertau hops. Talk about an excellent combination!! It has a mild malty sweetness with just the right amount of bitterness and fruity aroma from the fine hops blend. Combined with a respectable alcohol content of 5%, Schell's Firebrick will be sure to earn it's place in you're heart.

Don't just take my word for it! In 2002 Firebrick won the bronze medal at the great American beer festival. Please try this beer. I'm sure you won't be disapointed.

Be sure to visit their website given below. There you will find a virtual tour of the brewery, the full history, and a full listing of all their beers. So go ahead, explore and enjoy!
