Morristown Tennessee to get Liquor by the drink.

While the main point of November 4th, 2008 was the presidential election, residents of Morristown, Tennessee and Hamblen County had another option on the ticket that was causing even more of a Stir. Liquor by the drink.

For those who don't know, Liquor by the drink is the ability for restaurants to server liquor as well as beer. Allowing them to make Mixed drinks, such as Jack & Coke, Long Island Iced Tea, etc.. There was been many signs up, mostly at area churches that say Vote No on Liquor by the drink, and Alcohol Kills. Some of these even have badly mangles card, to emphasize their belief. It's kind of sad that these church officials, many of who go get a beer at restaurants, and even have liquor in their own homes are so against this, when they themselves would partake in such activities. This will also spell the end for the "private clubs" like the Elks Lodge and Angelo's, since they will no longer be able to serve such high prices for mixed beverages.

The liquor by the drink referendum passed by nearly 500 votes. The final tally was 4,525 for the referendum and 4,098 against.
The last time a liquor by the drink referendum was on the ballot was in May 2003. The vote was 2,349 for and 2,489 against.
